Long time, no post. Shame on me. I really should post more! The Lord knows I have the time. Alrighty, let's see... where did I last leave off? I believe it was around New Years. Wow--that was only about four months ago. *que the boos*
Since then, life has gone on.
In January I started two dual-credit classes at my local community college: an English and swimming class.
I had to drop the former due to the teacher. My pastor always says: "You can love people with out relaxing your standards". Which, in a way, applies to that situation. It was kind of sad, really. Lawsy mercy.
Swimming has been going on just fine. My mother and I are actually taking it together. She is attending as continuing education. You'd better believe I'm taking a college swimming class with my mama, and I wouldn't have it any other way. We have killer arms now, too.
In January my family and I also celebrated the ending to my sister's lawsuit. It's a greedy world out there when people are willing to sue an 18-year-old girl for an accident that happened when she was sixteen. The Lord was beyond faithful, however, and my family held strong--not giving into one greedy demand--and low and behold, they settled. God is so good! Later that month my mom turned 41. We went to a restraunt that made homemade s'mores. Delicious--but not nearly as good a regular ole graham crackers and store bought marshmallows and chocolate.
February: I have no memory of February other than that my youngest sister, Rivers, turned 11 and had a glow-in-the-dark themed party. Is she creative or what?
March held four major events in the Puckett home: my parent's 20th anniversary, my sister Shalah's 19th birthday, my dear friend Rebecca's 19th birthday (who shares a birthday with Shalah), and Easter. Oh my goodness. Twenty years is so hard to fathom for me. It's so long! Then my sister and friend are in their last year of teen-dom. Life is starting to change a little... but I feel the speed of change rapidly increasing.
Easter was really good this year... it was the best one we had in a while. Other than me getting sunburned and sick on candy, I had a great time! We went fishing, egg hunting, picnicking... and it was an all-around beautiful day as far as weather is concerned.
This month (April), I had to put my poor little puppy, Miss Kay, through surgery to be spayed along with one of our other dogs, Boo. It was the saddest thing and she was madder than a wet cat when she came out of it! Of course, the vet tells me not to let her jump or horse play or anything for at least two weeks. I'm was just standing there thinking to myself: "Have you ever been with a puppy for more than five minutes?" It's safe to say that request didn't exactly happen. It's alright, though--stitches remained in tact. My nut-ball dog...
I just recently came back from the oh so lovely and dear friend of mine's house, Miss Maddie H. I made her watch Steel Magnolias the minute I heard she had never seen it. It was shocking, to say the least. It is one of my favorite movies of all time. In fact--it is my favorite movie of all time. She loved it. All is well.

The high-light of this month, I have to admit though, was finally purchasing my very own camera! And a fancy camera at that. I've been wanting one for literally years. I'm very into saving and then buying stuff ever since I began to make money. The only exception I have ever made that rule for me was with the camera. I probably won't do it again though because it was kind of an ordeal when it came to the payments. Which was the very reason I did it in the first place: a payment plan. It all worked out, but next time I'm going to wait until I just have the money all there and fine.
It's a beautiful camera that came with two lenses. The camera is a Canon EOS Rebel T4i. It takes exceptional images and I'm just very handy with the auto setting. I plan on taking a few work-shops in the summer, though, just to improve the quality of my work. I don't want to be a photographer, per say, but I am all about documenting memories via scrap-booking. You're pictures might as well be good.
Here is a sample of my fancy camera work (note: sarcasm). My cutie, Miss Kay! |
My youngest sister, Rivers. Beaut! |
My daddy's first catch! It was good to see him out on the water again. |
I thought I would take the oh-so-classy duck face picture in the lovely bathroom. |
My three sister's in the famous Texan blue bonnets! Right off the side of the high-way. (From left to right: Rivers, Mandy, and Shalah with Miss Kay) |
I do believe that is all to tell of so far. School is almost out... in about three weeks. Then I'll have lots more to share, I'm sure. The only other eventful thing I can think of is my buying of Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible. That's a keeper! I also noted today while at the grocery store that there are still beautiful people in the world. Sometimes it's hard to remember when watching the news and the like. But the sweet southerly people in my town are a treasure. Even if we don't ever know each other. Something about living in the south, being an American, the warm sunshine shinning on your face, and a good shade of red lipstick makes for friendly faces and a cherished day.
Blessings,
Ryleigh
