Cotillion 2013: 'Somewhere in Time'

Yesterday was most certainly one of the most stressful yet fun days of the year thus far.
I had decided that I wouldn't go to the annual cotillion that JOYCA threw every year. Well,
just like last year, I thought about it (considerably close to the actual date) and decided I wanted
to go. Honestly, terrible manners on my part. But seriously, I wasn't going to miss out! Additionally,
I had the perfect dress and lipstick to suit the 'Somewhere in Time' theme--I was going as a 1960's southern belle. As was my dear friend, Maddie.

Earlier though, the day was rather stressful. You see, because my sisters and I had decided to go last minute there was no way to cancel the hair appointment one of my sisters (who was also attending) had already made. To say it simply, her hair appointment ended at 5:00 p.m. and the dance started at 6:00 p.m. Hence, we had to be very strategic about getting ready and whatnot. Then, of course, traffic was terrible on the way to the dance which was already about and hour away. It is safe to say that we arrived twenty minutes late, only to walk in during the etiquette lesson portion of the dance. Oh, the irony.

Once I was there though, I no longer felt the need to cry and my heart slowed down about ten minutes into it.

During the dinner part of the dance I was lucky enough to be seated by some of my favorite people, including Miss Maddie. We were served Italian food and cheesecake. It was very delicious! Afterwards we began dancing and I promise you my feet have never hurt so much in my life! Except for one other time, and that was last years cotillion.

While we were dancing Maddie's parents and Nana and Papa Pridmore stopped by to say hello.

Everyone danced until midnight (about five hours of dancing)!
Over all, it was lovely to see everyone I haven't been able to in such a long time.

I, for one, encourage going to dances. Don't talk yourself out of it! There will always be people who can dance just a little better and who got their hair just a little higher, but the point is being with your friends and having a grand ole time.
